R Premadasa Stadium weather: Colombo vs Galle LPL 2022 Eliminator match weather report live at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo

During the ‘Eliminator’ match of the ongoing Lanka Premier League 2022, the Colombo Stars have won the Toss and elected to bowl first, at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

The contest is currently underway after an hour delay, as rain Gods threatened to play spoilsport due to incessant rain since the second innings of the ‘Qualifier 1’ match earlier in the day. With the rain finally relenting, we now will witness an 18 Overs-a-side contest at the match venue.

Colombo Stars skipper Angelo Mathews, who missed the last league match against Jaffna Kings, has returned back in the playing XI. Pacer Suranga Lakmal also makes it to the starting XI in the Eliminator tonight.

Wicket-keeper batter Niroshan Dickwell and batting allrounder Dhananjaya Lakshan will unfortunately sit out, with Dinesh Chandimal to keep the wickets.

The Gladiators too, have made five changes to their playing XI from the previous match.

R Premadasa Stadium weather

The weather at the R Premadasa Stadium currently is dark and cloudy, with 94% cloud cover. The conditions however, remain to be very warm with the temperature lingering around the 26 degrees Centigrade mark.

While chances of rain still remain a possibility, the probability of a downpour will reduce significantly by the next hour; down to 28%.

In case the match gets abandoned due to rain tonight, the Stars will proceed to the ‘Qualifier 2’ stage, on account of a better record in the league stage.

For those unaware, the ‘Qualifier 1’ match between Kandy Falcons and Jaffna Kings earlier was affected by rain too, with the Kings eventually emerging victorious by 24 runs as per the DLS method.

Chasing a modest target of 144, the Kings had posted 98/3 after 11 Overs, when relentless rain made sure that the further continuance of play was not possible.
