Rahul Chahar send-off: Wanidu Hasaranga applauds after getting dismissed by Rahul Chahar in Colombo T20I

Rahul Chahar send-off: The Indian spinner dismissed his counterpart to pick his only wicket of the second T20I in Colombo.

During the second T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Sri Lanka in Colombo, India spinner Rahul Chahar sort of lost his cool to give a send-off to Sri Lanka all-rounder Wanidu Hasaranga.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 15th over when Hasaranga’s attempt of playing a lose drive saw him not being able to keep the ball down. As a result, Hasaranga hit the ball straight to India vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar at backward point.

Having picked a wicket on the last ball of his spell, Chahar was uncontrollably excited as he was involved in giving a send-off to Hasaranga. Perhaps the dismissal meant an extra bit to the bowler as Hasaranga had hit him over his head for a boundary earlier in the over.

Not responding to Chahar’s animated reactions with words, Hasaranga was seen applauding the bowler whilst walking back to the pavilion at the R Premdasa Stadium.

Chasing a 133-run target, the hosts registered a 4-wicket victory in the last over primarily due to vice-captain Dhananjaya de Silva scoring a match-winning 40* (34).

In the first innings, India scored a mediocre 132/5 in 20 overs after Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to field first. Opening the batting with debutant Ruturaj Gaikwad (21), India captain Shikhar Dhawan top-scored for his team with his 40 (42) comprising of five fours.

Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya, who dismissed Dhawan and wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson (7), was the pick of the bowlers for his team with bowling figures of 4-0-29-2.
