Rohit Sharma out today before lunch vs England: Rohit Sharma last 10 Test innings score

Rohit Sharma out: The Indian opening batsman ended up gifting his wicket after an assured start on yet another occasion.

During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England in Nottingham, India opening batsman Rohit Sharma continued his knack of gifting his wicket away after a start in Test cricket.

Continuing from his overnight score of 9*, Sharma batted for the whole of the morning session today before getting out on what turned out to be the last ball of the session.

Facing England pacer Ollie Robinson, Sharma couldn’t resist the urge of pulling a short delivery. One of the better pullers in modern-day cricket, Sharma erred on this particular occasion as he failed terribly with respect to playing along the ground.

As a result, the 34-year old player ended up hitting the ball straight to England all-rounder Sam Curran at fine leg. In what was a 97-run opening partnership, Sharma departed after scoring 36 (107) with the help of six fours. Having done the hard work, disappointment of playing a false shot was quite evident from Sharma’s expressions as he walked back to the dressing room.

As far as his last 10 Test innings are concerned, Sharma has done quite well scoring 445 runs at an average of 49.44 including a match-winning 161 (231) against England in Chennai earlier this year.

The problem with Sharma, however, lies in how he hasn’t been able to convert his starts into substantial knocks in overseas Tests. In his last 11 overseas Test innings, Sharma has scored 335 runs at an average of 33.50 with the help of two half-centuries.
