Sydney Showground Stadium T20 records: Sydney Showground Stadium records BBL and highest innings totals

During the fifth match of Big Bash League 2022-23 between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers at the Sydney Showground Stadium, Adelaide Strikers captain Peter Siddle has won the toss and chose to bat in his pursuit of registering a second consecutive victory.

Coming on the back of winning their respective season openers, both Strikers and Thunder will take the field with an unchanged Playing XI tonight.

Having last hosted a T20 in the form of a Big Bash League 2021-22 league match on the second day of this year, Showground Stadium will be hosting the first of its four BBL 12 matches on Friday.

Participated in all T20s at this venue, Sydney Thunder have won 12 and lost 15 to not have the best of records at their home ground. Having won two and lost five out of their seven matches here, even Strikers have a dismal record at this stadium.

It is not a surprise that players who play for Thunder or have played for them in the past are among the top BBL performers at this venue which has never hosted a T20 outside of the BBL.

Out of the 28 T20s played at the Sydney Showground Stadium, no team has ever been able to touch the 200-run mark. As far as the highest successful run-chase at this venue in this format is concerned, Melbourne Renegades hold the record for chasing down a 174-run target against Thunder in Big Bash League 2015-16.
