"Whaaatttteeeey save": Punjab Kings in awe of KL Rahul's flying effort to save four runs vs England in Ahmedabad T20I

KL Rahul’s flying effort: The Indian opening batsman gave his all to save a boundary in a low-scoring match at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

During the first T20I of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Ahmedabad, India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul was seen putting on display a significant contribution on the field.

It all happened on the first delivery of the fifth over when England wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler (28) stepped to hit an Axar Patel delivery back over his head.

Having mostly achieved success in his attempt, Buttler must have been disappointed in the manner in which Rahul converted a potential six into a couple of runs. Fielding at long-off, Rahul timed his jump to perfection to grab the catch but was aware enough to throw the ball back when momentum was carrying him across the boundary.

Rahul, who scored a paltry 1 (4) after England captain Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to field, must have been relieved to save four runs for his team via such an effort.

Chasing a 125-run target, England got off to a much-needed start as Jason Roy and Buttler put together a brisk 72-run opening stand to bat India out of the match in the first half of their innings.

Earlier, India had scored 124/7 in 20 overs on the back of batsman Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with his 67 (48) comprising of eight fours and a six. As far as the English bowlers were concerned, spearhead Jofra Archer was the pick of them with bowling figures of 4-1-23-3.
