Cristiano Ronaldo News: Will the Portuguese star swap his Juventus shirt for PSG next season if the Italian champions fail to conquer Europe?

Cristiano Ronaldo was recently in the news for scoring a magnificent goal for Portugal in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. With that goal, he has taken his international tally to 94 and his career total to 699. The Portuguese has been on fire for his national team scoring 9 goals in 5 matches!

While Ronaldo has been in free-flowing form with his national team, he has not been the same goal machine in the Serie A with Juventus. The former Real Madrid star is starting to realize that the Italian league is too defensive to allow him to score 50 goals a season.

This will in turn push him further away from the coveted Ballon D’Or. His chase of the prestigious award will further rattle if Juventus fail to win or go deep in the Champions League. It is for the stated reasons, that Don Balon have reported that Ronaldo could switch his allegiance once again next season.

Back home or new challenge?

Manchester United were said to be his original choice of destination. The Red Devils were willing to shell 140 million Euros to bring back the player who was made at Old Trafford. However, the condition set to them was Champions League qualification; a possibility that looks bleaker by the day.

With United out of the way, PSG could come in and swoop Ronaldo from Turin for 150 million Euros. However, that would only happen if Neymar completes his move back to Barcelona. Considering Neymar and Barcelona’s long-standing desire to reunite, that should not be a stumbling block for either of the parties involved.

Should Ronaldo join PSG, it is likely that he will become the highest paid player in the world. It is also almost a guarantee that he will win the French league with the club; thereby making him the first player in the world to win the top flight in 4 of Europe’s top 5 leagues.

Whether there is any truth in this report though, remains to be seen.
