Current weather in Ranchi cricket ground: Rain forecast and pitch report for 3rd Test between India and South Africa

Current weather in Ranchi cricket ground: The SportsRush present before you the weather and pitch report ahead of the Ranchi Test.

The third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India will commence from tomorrow at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. It will be the second time when Ranchi will be hosting a Test match after hosting its inaugural Test against Australia in 2017.

With the series already being ruled in India’s favour, this match will be played more because of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship. With 40 points at stake, both teams will be eager to not drop their guard from tomorrow onward.

Other than getting whitewashed for the first time in India upon losing the third Test, South Africa will also become the first team to lose their first three matches of the World Test Championship.

Current weather in Ranchi cricket ground

A day before the second Test in Visakhapatnam, there were significant chances of rain playing spoilsport. While the same happened briefly, things are likely to be better in Ranchi tomorrow (Saturday).

While the first day of the match is likely to remain unaffected from any threatening weather conditions, the second day might witness a few thunderstorms. It is only on the third day of the match that rain is likely to interrupt the match.

Following the third day, weather will once again remain clear on both Monday and Tuesday. Any number of overs lost because of the rain will be tried to accommodate in the five days’ time

With a limited number of international matches played at this venue, predicting Ranchi’s pich report is no mean task. If the pitch curator is to be believed, it will be a typical Indian Test wicket.

“The pitch is expected to assist the spinners a little more which might prompt India captain Virat Kohli to field an extra spinner in the expense of a fast bowler in the 3rd Test against South Africa,” Ranchi pitch curator was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
