One of the greatest fullbacks of all time, Dani Alves has revealed that he still loves Barcelona and would re-join them tomorrow if they called him.

“Barça is my home. It’s impossible to say I wouldn’t go back there. I would go back to Barça tomorrow if they called me,” he said.

“But if I said I didn’t leave Barça feeling hurt I would be lying. I left hurting a lot because I feel that I fought so hard to construct Barça’s great history and all that to get an unexpected response from the club. I left with 23 trophies in eight years.”

“I gave great performances but they didn’t respect my history,” he said.

“They wanted me to have a farewell party but I said no. Because for me Barça will always be my home so when you think a place is your home you can’t say goodbye. How can you say goodbye if you’re going to come back?”

Alves was an integral part of the great Barcelona era, as he was an unstoppable presence on the right wing. He grew into the role and became a fine defender in his own right, in addition to the Brazilian brilliance he brought in the attacking third of the opposition half.

His partnership with Messi was also crucial in Barcelona’s attacks, as his overlapping runs often created the space and time for Barca’s number ten to wreck havoc.

After Barcelona, Alves was superb for Juventus and was an important member of the Italian side that lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season.

While his PSG adventure has not yet given the desired results, Alves is likely to continue his stay in Paris for the foreseeable future.

That is of course if Barcelona do not call him up!
