Man Utd Transfer News: Solskjaer submits world record bid for Kalidou Koulibaly

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has submitted a world record bid for Kalidou Koulibaly.

Manchester United are looking to boast their squad with some big names in the transfer market. The Red Devils missed out on the Champions League spot, but the club still has enough attraction to lure top players to Old Trafford.

Defence has been an important area which has most often caused problems. With the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, and Marcos Rojo as centre-backs, the backline has been erratic most often. There is no doubt that the full-backs department needs an upgradation, but a leader at the back would change fortunes for the English side.

According to the Italian publication, Corriere Dello Sport, Manchester United have submitted a 100 million for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese International is on the top of Solskjaer’s shortlist and wants to lure in the Napoli defender to Old Trafford.

Previously, the Red Devils bid worth 88 million was turned down by the club. Since Manchester United cannot afford to spend more amount a single player, they have assumed the bid as ‘take it or leave it’ offer. The 27-year-old has been one of the biggest names in world football and many clubs have tried to pursue him over the last few years, but they have not been successful.

Real Madrid are the other side to run for his signature, but their approach has also been turned down. Juventus have made initial contact, but they were not able to push fast for the deal as well.

It would be a tough ask to negotiate with Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is a rugged communicator for the outfit from Naples. United are also tracking Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan, but the Slovakian International extended his contract until 2023.

It has proved to be a tough month for Manchester United, but they are set to land the young Daniel James from Swansea City. The Welsh International has undergone medical today and the signing is expected to be made official in some time. A midfielder along with defender remains a priority for Solskjaer, despite Paul Pogba being told to stay put at the club amidst Real Madrid links.

What’s next?

Manchester United are expected to spend highly in the summer transfer window and the club will work to bring in as many possible upgrades as they can.
