Daniel Ricciardo had been slapped with a three place grid penalty after FP2 yesterday for having failed to slow down enough during the red flag which was called due to a loose wire on the main pit straight.

Ricciardo had apparently made an effort to slow down, but it wasn’t good enough to match the FIA regulations and hence a penalty had to be served.

Ricciardo hasn’t had a good time in Australia(his home grand prix), having suffered multiple technical difficulties during the Australian GP 2017.

Ricciardo was furious with the decision of the stewards as he felt that  common sense should have prevailed.

“Is it worth a grid penalty?” Ricciardo asked.

“I think common sense should have prevailed. It was a cable on the track. I didn’t pass the incident.

“I think it’s shithouse.” he added.

The F1 Qualifying has just come to an end with Lewis Hamilton grabbing the pole position in Melbourne once again with an insane lap of 1:21.164.

Bottas hit the wall after losing control in Q3, relegating him to the 10th spot. Raikkonen took the second spot and will start in the front row with Hamilton for the Australian Grand Prix.

Vettel came in third followed by the two Red Bulls who showed incredible pace in Qualifying but couldn’t really match up to Mercedes’ pace.

Do tune in for Race day tomorrow, it’s going to be fascinating.
