David Silva: Manchester City Star confirms exit from the club after ten-year spell

David Silva has confirmed his exit from the club after a ten-year spell with Manchester City.

David Silva has confirmed that he will head into the exit door after the 2019/20 season with Manchester City. The Spaniard has gone on to become one of the finest players in the Premier League following a €28 million move from Valencia in 2010.

The 33-year-old played under Roberto Mancini, Manuel Pellegrini, and Pep Guardiola during his ten-year stay at the Etihad Stadium. The attacking midfielder has made 396 appearances for the club, scoring 71 and assisting further 129 while his joyous career. He has won the Premier League and League Cup four times, and FA Cup twice, proving immaculate to the Citizens.

At a press conference in Gran Canaria he said reaching a decade is the right time to call it a day. “This is the last one,” he said. “Ten years for me is enough. It’s the perfect time for me. Initially, City were talking about two [more] years.

“It completes the cycle. It’s a nice round figure. I can never see myself playing against City for another team. So 10 years – that’s it.”

Ending his career at hometown club Las Palmas has long been Silva’s plan, but he indicated they will have to seal promotion to LaLiga for that move to be realistic.

“Not China,” Silva said of his next destination. “I don’t know. My girlfriend decides for me!

“I would love to finish my career in Las Palmas but football changes. Who knows? It depends on the team and the players. I cannot come here [to Las Palmas] to play in the second division with this team.”

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

After Vincent Kompany’s exit from the club, City fans will be upset with the inevitable departure of David Silva in a year.
