Dejan Lovren set to join AS Roma from Liverpool this summer transfer window

Dejan Lovren set to join AS Roma with Liverpool ready to accept the offer proposed by the Italian side, the terms are about to be completed.

Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren has gone down in the pecking order in Jurgen Klopp’s squad, with the rise of Joe Gomez and Virgil Van Dijk being undisputable. Thus, even Lovren realizes that he has no chance of being a regular for the Reds.

So, in further developments, according to a statement by Paul Joyce from the Times, Liverpool and AS Roma are in talks with each other for the transfer of Lovren this summer, and the Italian side is read to meet the demands made by Liverpool’s board.

Lovren has been serving the Premier League giants since 2014 but with the incoming of better defenders in the squad, The Croatian International has constantly seen himself on the bench.

On the other hand, AS Roma have lost Kostas Manolas to Napoli this summer, and to bolster their squad, they see Lovren as a suitable replacement in the squad.

However, with the end of the English transfer window, it will be difficult for the Reds to manage with only three senior centre-backs, keeping Van Dijk, Gomes and Joel Matip till January.

Thus, Liverpool will have to promote an academy prospect to fulfil the defensive quota into the team, until a replacement for Lovren is not signed till next transfer window.

In this transfer window, Liverpool remained silent and only signed Adrian for the regular first-team action, as he will be a deputy to Alisson this season. Hence, it seems, Klopp might get his transfer targets during the next transfer window.
