Devon Conway age: Twitter reactions on Devon Conway's Test century on debut vs England at Lord's

Devon Conway’s Test century: The debutant opening batsman has become the 12th Kiwi batsman to score a century on Test debut.

During the first day of the first Test of the ongoing New Zealand’s tour of England at Lord’s, New Zealand opening batsman Devon Conway successfully carried forward his white ball form into Test cricket by scoring a century on Test debut.

Preferred over the likes of Tom Blundell and Will Young, Conway justified his selection by playing an archetype anchoring knock by being unperturbed by fall of senior batsmen at the other end.

Conway, who never looked like being nervous either due to the occasion or by the experience of the opposition’s bowling attack, primarily played deliveries on merit. Having collected most of his runs by running between the wickets, Conway looked utterly confident while hitting 10 fours.

Conway, who hit a boundary off England vice-captain Stuart Broad in the 35th over to complete his half-century, flicked Mark Wood for his first Test six to cross the three-figure mark. Despite getting troubled by Wood’s pace and bounce earlier in the day, Conway marking a stamp of authority on the same bowler was like icing on the cake.

Conway, 29, who already has six 50+ scores in 11 white-ball innings at the highest level, became only the 12th Kiwi batsman to score a Test century on debut.
