Former Indian Captain MS Dhoni and spinner Kuldeep Yadav teamed up to dismiss Jos Buttler in 1st England ODI.

Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler were gradually beginning to form a good partnership. They took the team to around 200 and were looking to blast in the last 10 overs.

However, it was for the joint brilliance of Kuldeep Yadav and MS Dhoni that Buttler was dismissed. It was Kuldeep’s 8th over. Although he had not been picking up wickets in the last couple of overs, he had been economical and was successful in tying up the English batsmen.

After Kuldeep picked up 3 wickets in his first 4-over spell, he was taken off by Kohli. Yadav then returned after a while.

On the last ball of the over, Kuldeep pre-empted that Buttler would dance down the track. This is why he bowled a ball down the leg side.

Although Buttler controlled his movement at the last minute, he could not avoid a faint nick round the leg side. The rest was done by Dhoni as he pulled off a brilliant catch down the leg side.

One must understand that it is not that simple to pluck catches down the leg side as the wicketkeeper is almost blinded by the batsman. Dhoni made a loud appeal and when he does that the decision comes in his favour more often than not.

India were pleased to see the back of Buttler who could have otherwise tormented the Indian bowling in the last 10 overs.
