Eric Cantona’s cryptic acceptance speech leaves everyone, including Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo perplexed at the UEFA Awards on Thursday night.
UEFA are done with their Champions League draws. The groups have been decided and the individual awards have been disposed. However, one man has ensured that the teams and active players will not be the only talking point of the night.

Manchester United legend Eric Cantona received the 2019 UEFA President’s award for his outstanding career as a player. The award was also a recognition of his support of charitable causes that help improve lives around the world.
“This award not only recognises his career as a player of the highest calibre, but also honours him for the person he is,” said UEFA boss Ceferin.
“[He is] a man who refuses compromise, who stands up for his values, who speaks his mind and, in particular, puts his heart and his soul into supporting the causes he believes in.”
However, the Frenchman gave a bizarre speech; one that left everyone wondering if Cantona understood why he was called upon the stage.

The beginning of his quote was from Shakespeare’s King Lear. However, why he decided to choose this event is anybody’s guess. It is however, very Cantona like to indulge in his moment of madness even if it leaves quite the stir. And this one, it truly stole the show.
