Ernesto Valverde: Barcelona board take huge decision on Valverde's future at Nou Camp amidst exit rumours

Barcelona have decided to keep Ernesto Valverde for the upcoming season amidst exit rumours.

Barcelona’s treble hopes blew away when they faced humiliation in the hands of Liverpool and Valencia in the Champions League and Copa Del Rey respectively. Manager Ernesto Valverde has won three trophies in two years at Nou Camp, but the excessive dependence on Lionel Messi’s individual brilliance has been brought into heed.

In the second half against Liverpool at Anfield, the Blaugrana were not able to pull three to four passes together to move in the forward direction. They were not able to find their feet as soon as the net bulged for the second time during that night. The crowd went on a rampage which made life dire for the away side as the next two goals proved a formality.

They were stuck in Anfield crapulence as Valencia eased past them in the Copa Del Rey final. Fans were left infuriated after the full-time whistle in both the games and wanted the board to fire the manager Valverde as soon as possible. There were several rumours murmuring that the board had sacked Valverde, but those allegations have been denied as the board had never thought about sacking him.

According to the reliable ESPNFC, the board have decided to keep Ernesto Valverde for one more season. The Spanish International’s contract ends in a year and they will take a decision, and his long-term future is dependent on the upcoming campaign. There is no doubt that Barcelona have been undone is a few games, which have come back to haunt them.

The source added that, “The president is someone who doesn’t like to rush into things and won’t be influenced by others. He won’t make drastic decisions in the heat of the moment. That’s not his style.”

Many of the board members are not aware of what’s going on, but those that work within the sporting structure were up to date. Some of them wanted Valverde gone, but none of them has the power as Josep Bartomeu.

With Valverde away from the club on holidays, he has been told that the club intends to keep him at any cost. The coach, despite the infuriation from the fans, desires to carry on with Barcelona in the next season.

The report also added that a meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday and the board members and the manager will take a huge call on the incoming transfers.
