Exequiel Palacios to Real Madrid: The River Plate midfielder is edging closer to a deal at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are currently fifth in the La Liga table. They dropped points against Villareal in the mid-week game, and will face Real Sociedad later tonight.
The side has had a shaky start to the season, and the departure of Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo had a massive impact on Real’s performances. However, they picked up pace after the appointment of Santiago Solari, ending the year with Club World Cup victory.
Meanwhile, the club is also monitoring potential transfer targets in the January transfer window, and one of the names which has emerged is Exequiel Palacios.
And according to his agent, Real Madrid are set to make an offer for the player this month.
Exequiel Palacios to Real Madrid:
Marca reported in November that Real Madrid’s first signing of the January transfer window would be Exequiel Palacios.
The signing, according to the report, would be a part of Real Madrid’s strategy to acquire young talent from South America.
Earlier in the summer, Real Madrid signed Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo from Brazil. While Vinicius has already made a few first-team appearances in the league, Rodrygo will join the club at the start of the 2019/20 season.
Palacios has been with River Plate ever since the age of 17, and the 20 year old midfielder has been a key player for the Argentinian side.
Marca has now reported that Palacios is close to join Real Madrid, and according to his manager Renato Corsci, a ‘formal offer’ will be made by the club soon.
“The leaders of River got together with Real Madrid in Abu Dhabi. In the coming days there will be a formal offer and the operation is quite advanced,” the agent said, as quoted by Marca.
However, Corsci stated that the player will come to Santiago Bernabeu in June.
“The family, Exequiel and I want him to go in June and Real Madrid don’t have a problem with him staying at River until then. Real Madrid want him and supposedly River will sell. They agree, so between Monday and Tuesday the formal proposal will be presented.”
