41-Year-Old Fernando Alonso Reaps Major Benefits From Fake Relationship With Taylor Swift

The Fernando Alonso-Taylor Swift rumors will go down as an absolutely crazy moment in F1 and pop culture history. With no solid rhyme or reason, the two icons of their industry were paired together. However, recently, these whispers were laid to rest as the pop star is reportedly in a relationship with the 1975 lead, Matt Healy.

Regardless, Alonso clearly enjoyed his 15 seconds of fame. Making TikToks with the singer’s music and not refuting rumors, Alonso played along as long as he could. Further, F1 pundits and media sites too enjoyed using a good share of puns around the situation.

This whole case shot Alonso into the spotlight as all the discussions were suddenly around the double champ. People wanted to know who the F1 driver was who was being linked with Taylor Swift. So, has all this played into Alonso’s hands?

Fernando Alonso is the lucky one in Taylor Swift drama

In the recent F1 Nation podcast, Natalie Pinkham explained, in great detail how Alonso has attracted a whole new generation of F1 fans. “I think he’s more popular than ever. He’s so canny at the moment as well, that whole Taylor Swift thing.”

The F1 Pundit analyzed how Alonso being associated with Swift has piqued the interests of those who didn’t know him- the younger breed. Thus, the sudden ‘explosion’ in popularity.

Even Alonso’s swagger played a role. “He gave a wry smile, and he was incredibly charming and batted it off beautifully. But then he was trending everywhere with Taylor and the memes were bursting out of our ears.”

Pinkham even gave the examples of her kids, who never really knew who Alonso was, but suddenly became the cool guy after the Taylor Swift link. “His growth on social media online, his presence, has been exponential. And he has been driving well, he is on the podium.”

Thus, the intrigue is building up around the F1 champion. Apart from the off-track conundrum, he’s been creating a racket on the track. Alonso’s form is as exceptional as ever, as the sudden podium appearances are the only thing keeping the season exciting.

Alonso creating new image

Earlier, Alonso was a no-bullshit personality and played his role as the anti-villain to the fullest. Now, he’s playing into the whole image, with a touch of charm and pizzaz.

The F1 journalist, who has worked with Alonso in real time, explains this change. “He used to hate all the media stuff, and now respects and appreciates it. He understands we’re a necessary evil in the whole scheme of things. I feel like he’s just more relaxed and, as a result, he’s great value.”

With all this in the past, Alonso can now focus on what’s most important to him: getting back on the top step of the rostrum. Although the podium appearances have been a pleasant surprise, its time we see the Samurai in his rightful place.
