Overshadowed by $285,000,000 Star’s Fame, Nicolas Hamilton Reveals Lewis Hamilton Never Spent a Penny on Him

With Sergio Perez having a disappointing season so far, speculations regarding his seat at Red Bull have been raging like wildfires. The latest rumors suggest that the Red Bull driver might even retire by the end of this season. However, as per a recent report by Auto Motor und Sport, Sergio Perez has revealed that while Red Bull tried their best to make their car faster, things went terribly wrong for the Mexican driver.

According to Perez, his driving style is quite different to what the latest Red Bull car requires. This mismatch is the main reason behind the poor season that Perez is having as of now.

Things were relatively okay at the start of the season and with four races in, Verstappen and Perez were both tied with two race wins each. However, as the season went on, things kept getting worse for Perez, and this might have been because of the way the car was developed.

Sergio Perez reveals the first time things went south for him in 2023

As per a recent report by Auto Motor und Sport, Perez pointed out the first time things went horribly wrong for him during the 2023 season. It was when Red Bull brought a new floor at the Spanish GP, which made the car faster, but quite different to drive.

Perez said, “The driving characteristics no longer suited my driving style.” He also noted, “They’re [Red Bull] making upgrades to make the car faster. It got faster too. Only I found it harder to drive the car.”

To try and solve this issue, Perez requested his team to reset the car according to the specifications that were there before the Spanish GP. However, his request was rejected.

A lose-lose situation for Perez

Perez’s request could not be entertained by the team because no team brings two completely different cars to a race for their drivers. This meant that Perez had to deal with the new version of the car that was undriveable for him.

When he tried to alter the setup and make the car driveable, Perez found that he was losing a lot of time. And it was the same result if he tried to run the car the way it was intended to, because he could not adapt with the driving style.

Therefore it was a lose – lose situation for him and the results made it very clear. As of now, failing to secure P2 in the championship might just be the final trigger for his chance at retaining his seat for 2024.
