Blushing Daniel Ricciardo Blames Himself for Ruining Almost-Perfect Anne Hathaway Met Gala Encounter

Daniel Ricciardo had his big moment at the Met Gala, complete with a Vogue video and even a red carpet moment. Having successfully made it through the night without any problems like most debutants usually do. However, Ricciardo walked away with one regret.

His interaction with Anne Hathaway had quickly taken the internet by storm. With the Hollywood star claiming to be a fan, Ricciardo was taken aback.

Now, as the adrenaline of living through fashion’s biggest night dies down, Ricciardo remembers Hathaway and wishes he’d done things a little differently.

Daniel Ricciardo rues Anne Hathaway moment

In a quick interview with GQ, an excited Daniel Ricciardo was all smiles reliving his moment in the spotlight. “It was a pretty awesome experience. When I received the invite, I was certainly nervous.”

However, nothing beat the nerves when he crossed paths with Hathaway. Flustered and blushing just thinking about it, Ricciardo explained, “I was just more overwhelmed with Anne Hathaway. She outed me out. I was like “Oh!” very flattered, which was very cool.”

Excited like a child meeting a superhero, Ricciardo couldn’t help but jump around narrating his story. Yet, he wished he could change just one thing. “I was just caught a bit off guard and I was like, maybe I should actually be like ‘Hey how are you?’ and not just be like ‘Thanks I’m flattered’ “

Despite his usually successful social skills thrown out the door, Ricciardo wasn’t too hard on himself for his awkward demeanor. In fact, he took away a big win. “But she was a sweetie, and it was cool to meet people like that. A lot of the time I’m thinking they wouldn’t know my name from a bar of soap. So it’s quite cool.”

However, it’s no surprise Ricciardo is the star he is being identified by Thom Browne to represent his brand and even Hathaway’s fangirl moment on the carpets. With his contagious smile, lovable personality, and devilishly good looks being amplified through Drive to Survive, it’s no shocker he’s become America’s sweetheart.

Ricciardo aces his first rodeo

In a BTS video with Vogue Ricciardo is seen prepping for the big night. Nervous, he revealed talking so some experienced friends about the night, possibly Lewis Hamilton.

Stepping out of his comfort zone, he was given the advice.“They spoke so positively about it and they just said, ‘Mate you’re going to have a blast. You’re going to meet so many new people. You’ll make friends.”

Regardless of the nerves, he was just honored to b considered to play his role in such a big event. Further, as he was surprised people knew him, surely he made his name known loud and clear during the event itself. Will we see Ricciardo on the steps again? One can only hope.
