F1 Qualifying Live Streaming and Timings: When and where to watch the qualifying round of Austrian Grand Prix on Saturday.
The first of the inaugural Grand Prix was not disappointing as the day peaked when Red Bull charged a formal inquiry over Mercedes using DAS system during the practice session.
During the first practice session, Mercedes announced that it is going to use DAS, at the moment nobody knows whether it is legal to use or illegal, but as of now, Ferrari has not raised any objection.
Which makes Red Bull, the only top-tier team to voice its concerns. Coming to the on-track performance, Mercedes, as usual, looked dominant ahead of the final race.
Lewis Hamilton led teammate Valtteri Bottas by 0.197s and the car looked like the class of the field over race simulations too. Bottas’ day came to an early end with a gearshift issue, but otherwise, the car looks dominant in every way.
Racing Point was Mercedes’ closest competition on track with Perez 0.641s off Hamilton. Before the start of the season, many feared Racing Point’s potential rise this season, as it has adopted the blueprint of last year’s Mercedes, hence calling it “The Pink Mercedes”.
Sebastian Vettel was the fastest of Mercedes’ regular rivals in the Ferrari, 0.657s off Mercedes. His teammate Leclerc was ninth fastest, underlining just how close it was behind the world champions.
However, both Ferrari and Red Bull are still expected to up their game in time for qualifying tomorrow. Although, Red Bull was disappointing, as Max Verstappen finished 8th and Alex Albon 13th.
