Fernando Alonso hoped to pocket a huge fortune by selling one of his prized supercars. The Spaniard was auctioning his 2011 Ferrari Enzo through Monaco Car Auctions in a private auction. Yet it couldn’t be sold despite its rarity.
The Enzo is one of the meanest Ferraris produced to date. The car is powered by a 6.0 L V12 engine, capable of producing power of 660 horsepower at 7700 rpm. The car can zoom from 0 to 100 Kmh in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed exceeding 350 Kmh.
Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo is valued at $5,500,000. However, the Spaniard’s plans of enjoying a fruitful payday ended after the supercar failed to attract bids.

Fernando Alonso fails to find buyers for Ferrari Enzo
Fernando Alonso had expected his Ferrari Enzo to fetch an estimated $5.5 Million at the auction. The bids opened at over $4.8 Million, but it failed to attract any buyers and was withdrawn from the auction.
The failure to sell his prized Ferrari has foiled Alonso’s hopes of acquiring another collectible. Earlier, it was reported that the Spaniard had his eyes set on buying Aston Martin DB4 GT.

Actor Lionel Jeffries used the classic Aston Martin in his 1963 hit “The wrong arm of the Law.” The Aston Martin F1 driver was clearing his garage to make way for his new million-dollar buy.
The French site Turbo reported an anonymous European buyer is interested in buying the car from Alonso. The buyer will pay the full price for the car, which went unsold in the Monte Carlo auction.
What makes Alonso’s Ferrari Enzo so special?
Fernando Alonso drove for Ferrari’s F1 team from 2010 to 2014. The driver acquired the car during this time and has covered only 4800 Km in his supercar. The Spaniard had kept the car on display in his museum in Spain.
Contrary to popular belief, the 2x world champion is not the first buyer of the Ferrari Enzo. Neither was the car gifted to him by Ferrari. Alonso is, in fact, the third owner of the car.
The classic red Ferrari Enzo owned by Fernando Alonso is described as “Scocca n.1,” which translates to “Shell No. 1.” This means it’s 1st of 400 chassis developed by Ferrari to celebrate their founder’s vision.
The Enzo, named after the Scuderia’s founder, is one of the most sought-after cars made by the Italian brand. Only 400 cars have been made to date. The 400th model of the supercar was donated to the Vatican City and later sold in an auction for over $1 Million.
Enzos are extremely rare to come by in auctions and are highly prized by collectors. It won’t be long until a buyer lines up with a pile of cash to collect the car from the F1 driver.
