Lewis Hamilton’s Brother Nicolas Hamilton Turns Adversity Into Triumph by Proving Medical ‘Professionals’ Wrong

Lewis Hamilton’s brother Nicolas Hamilton was born with cerebral palsy, a disorder that affects a person’s posture and ability to walk. That didn’t stop him from achieving his dreams. The seven-time F1 world champion’s brother took to his Instagram account to send an inspiring message of hope to all the people who suffer similar problems in life.

Lewis Hamilton and his brother always shared a very close bond growing up. Despite having major mobility issues because of his cerebral palsy, Nicolas dreamed of following in the footsteps of his older brother and becoming a racing driver. It wasn’t easy for him, but he managed to make a career despite facing serious adversity.

Today, he is proud of his achievements and showed it on his Instagram post by writing a motivating caption. It focuses on how he proved the people and doctors around him wrong, to fulfill a lifelong dream and urges his followers to do the same.

Nicolas Hamilton proves those around him wrong

In the Instagram post, Nicolas Hamilton revealed how 31 years ago, the doctors told his parents that he would never walk because of his cerebral palsy. For a child who dreamed of becoming a racing driver, hearing that must’ve been excruciatingly difficult growing up.

However, he didn’t let those predictions get in the way of his own willpower. After multiple medical procedures and sheer determination, he finally made it big. Today, he is a racing driver, just like his older brother Lewis Hamilton, and posted a video of himself walking to his car, on his own feet, without any support whatsoever.

“Forge your own path & don’t let anyone tell you otherwise, even so-called, ‘professionals’,” he wrote on the post.

Currently, Nicolas Hamilton is taking part in the British Touring Car Championship, where he competes in a specially modified car.

Lewis Hamilton and his brother’s close bond

Hamilton and his brother were incredibly close growing up. They spent a lot of time together when Hamilton wasn’t away for his races. In several interviews, Nicolas even admits just how much Hamilton inspired him growing up.

Because of his disability, Lewis Hamilton’s younger brother had to deal with bullying problems at school, and he always stood behind him in such instances. It wasn’t just Lewis who inspired his younger brother, but also the other way round. The 31-year old’s inspirational journey in overcoming his disability to fulfil his dream also inspires the seven-time world champion.
