Sebastian Vettel Could Make a Stunning Return to F1 After a "Good Meeting" With Stefano Domenicali

Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel could make a stunning return to F1 in the future after he had a “good meeting” with Stefano Domenicali. The German, who retired following the conclusion of last season, highlighted how F1’s keenness towards moving to greener methods could motivate him to return to the sport.

Environmental issues are undoubtedly close to the 36-year-old’s heart as this is one of the main reasons why he retired from the sport last year. Vettel stated (as quoted by washingtonpost.com) that while it is his “passion to drive a car,” he is unsure if F1 should be “wasting resources” in this fashion.

He then concluded his remarks by stating that he understands that his passion now comes with “certain aspects” that he now dislikes. However, now with F1 having made their stance clear on moving towards a carbon zero footprint, there is a chance that Vettel could return to the sport sometime in the future.

Sebastian Vettel suggests he could return to F1 soon

Sebastian Vettel gave a huge hint of potentially making a comeback to F1 after he returned to the racing track last weekend at the famous Goodwood hill with two cars from his own collection. The first was Nigel Mansell’s championship-winning Williams FW14B, while the second was Ayrton Senna’s McLaren MP4/8 from 1993.

Vettel decided to take part in this event as synthetic fuels were used for both cars. Following his outing on track, he provided some insight into the “good meeting” he had with F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali.

While speaking to planetf1.com, the German said, “I’ve been to Monaco earlier this year. I had a very good meeting with [F1 president] Stefano [Domenicali]“. Vettel then added that since F1 is a global sport, they had a responsibility to protect the environment.

The four-time world champion then ended his remarks by stating that he has been in discussion with F1 about the same and he wants to make sure that the sport is “headed in the right direction“. Vettel suggested that if he sees progress in the right direction, then he could consider returning to the sport.

Vettel has taken part in several environment friendly initiatives after retiring

Following his retirement at the end of the last season, Sebastian Vettel has spent most of his time in taking part in various environment friendly initiatives. The German is one of the major brand ambassadors of BACX, which is a sustainable sports drink brand.

And along with this sponsorship, Vettel also endorses several other brands in this space. The details of all the initiatives that the 36-year-old has taken part in are available on his website: sebastianvettel.de.

While it seems clear that Vettel now has newfound interests, his fans would like nothing more than to see him return to F1 once more. Now only time will tell if the German decides to return or not.
