Sebastian Vettel Hints F1 Return Amidst Audi’s Rising Interest to Orchestrate His Comeback

Former Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel has hinted that he could return to F1 someday if the sport moves to greener options such as synthetic fuels. The German has been a strong advocate to protect the environment and it is this reason why he also decided to hang up his boots at the end of last season.

Interestingly, Vettel’s recent remarks about how he continues to love motorsport come amid Audi’s reported interest in bringing up back. As per Swiss newspaper Blick, Sauber CEO Andreas Seidl is looking out at options to give the 35-year-old a race seat in the 2026 season, the year they hope to make their debut in F1.

Considering that there is already interest in bringing him out of retirement, the ball is now in Vettel’s court to decide if he is keen on making a return to F1 or not. In a recent conversation with Bild, the German said,

Motorsport is my passion. It’s important to me to show that we can drive just as well and quickly with synthetic, i.e. CO2-neutral fuel”.

Sebastian Vettel explains how he feels about retirement

When asked about how he feels about retirement, Sebastian Vettel told Bild that he is happy to spend time with his family and his kids. He said that even though adjusting to such a life took time, he believes he is yet enjoying it after spending such a huge part of his career racing around the world.

He then went on to explain how it feels strange for him to watch a race from home. Vettel explained that it felt ‘weird‘ for him to not be there on the race track, but said that he is coping well and that he is still following the sport with ‘great interest‘.

When asked about when will he return to the paddock again, Vettel replied that he does not know yet. He then concluded his remarks by stating that he is content with his decision to retire at the moment even though he misses ‘the competition and the tension’ that comes with it greatly.

Vettel has taken part in several sustainability initiatives after retiring from F1

In order to do the best he can to protect the environment, the German has taken part in several sustainability initiatives such as ‘Race without Trace‘ and ‘Save the Bees‘.

Since retiring from F1, Vettel has been so focused on spreading awareness about the same that he has also created his own personal website: sebastianvettel.de/en/sustainability/.
