Sorrowful reason why Michael Schumacher health updates never come out to media

Ever since Michael Schumacher had his horrific skiing accident, the seven-time world champion has been away from the media’s gaze and, since then, has been highly out of public view.

Only a limited set of people— his family and a few closer friends- can meet him. Only limited health updates by former Ferrari team principal have been the source of information to the fans.

Meanwhile, In 2021, for the first time since the accident, Corrina Schumacher talked about her husband’s health. In Netflix’s documentary on the F1 legend, she spoke about how he has been doing and is still present in their lives.

Why is Michael Schumacher kept out of view?

Over the years, Schumacher’s wife Corrina and manager Sabine Kehm have perfectly managed to keep him out everyone’s eyes. But it wasn’t their call. Kehm revealed in 2016 why the Ferrari superstar always wanted to have it like this.

“Once in a long discussion Michael said to me ‘you don’t need to call me for the next year, I’m disappearing.’ I think it was his secret dream to be able to do that some day. That’s why now I still want to protect his wishes in that I don’t let anything get out,” said Kehm.

In the Netflix documentary, Corrina also discussed why keeping her husband like this was necessary. She explained that Schumacher has protected his family from the media and maintained their privacy over the years.

When the most famous F1 name is not at his best, it’s their responsibility to do the same for him. In the documentary, she even said that her husband would have wanted things like this only.

The F1 legacy continues

In 2020, Schumacher’s son Mick Schumacher made sure that his family name will forever continue in the sport by winning the F2 championship. His title win boosted his entry into F1.

Backed by Ferrari, the German race driver was hired by Haas, where he drove for them for two years. In 2022, he impressed the fans and experts with his performances, but that didn’t yield him a third season with the American team.

At the end of the last season, he was let go by Haas and was replaced by his compatriot Nico Hulkenberg. But that’s not the end of his story. He was signed as a reserve driver for Mercedes.

Joining hands with the Silver Arrows can take him to an F1 comeback, which happened with Esteban Ocon. Junior Schumacher has made an impression of being a reliable lieutenant to every team, even though he got dumped by Haas. Therefore, someday he would get another call.
