Valtteri Bottas Follows Girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell’s Career Path With New Venture Away From F1

After the Emilia Romagna GP cancellation last week, Valtteri Bottas decided to try a different type of racing. Instead of suiting up for a car race, he followed in his girlfriend Tiffany Cromwell’s footsteps by taking part in a cycling race over the weekend.

Bottas and Cromwell have been in a relationship since 2020, and the latter is a professional cyclist, who has instilled her love of the sport onto Bottas too. The Finn spends a lot of time away from F1 riding bikes, going on long rides with Cromwell in various locations around the world.

With no F1 race to prepare for on the weekend, Bottas decided to travel to Southern Scotland, where he competed in a gravel cycling race. The main reason behind Bottas’ being there was to support his girlfriend, who emerged victorious in the women’s event.

Bottas himself didn’t do too well with the Alfa Romeo driver finishing 114th. It took him four hours to complete the 70-mile course.

Bottas posted multiple pictures on his Instagram account, showing snippets of his two-wheeled outing in Scotland. His pictures included him arriving, practicing and competing in the race alongside Cromwell, and it seems like the Finn enjoyed his weekend away from F1.

“Really enjoyed challenging myself at the 113km,” Bottas wrote as a caption on his post. “I think I was 114th out of 1000+ starters overall. Hero Tiffany Cromwell won the women’s category. Most important: we had a great day out!”

Bottas has become one of the most beloved F1 stars on social media lately, so it is no surprise that fans were happy to see him enjoy his time off with Cromwell. He posts plenty of wholesome content on his socials, which have turned many people into Bottas fans.

He includes his partner Cromwell in several of his posts. Because she is Australian, Bottas travels to the land down under quite frequently, and has seemingly fallen in love with the country. The Finnish driver adopting Aussie culture and posting snippets of the same, has also become a hit among his followers on Instagram.

Bottas’ quiet start to the 2023 season

Back in the world of F1, Bottas’ life hasn’t been that happening. Alfa Romeo, who had a stunning start to the season last year, aren’t doing particularly well this time about. However, their start this time has been quiet to say the least.

Collectively, Alfa Romeo has amassed six points so far, with Bottas scoring four oft those. The car is not strong enough to get out of the lower-midfield region at the moment, but Bottas will be hoping that they find some performance in the coming few races.

Bottas and all other F1 drivers will be traveling to the Principality of Monaco for the 2023 Monaco GP next weekend.
