"We're the underdog but it's still doable"- Daniel Ricciardo confident of Renault achieving this milestone despite the odds

“We’re the underdog but it’s still doable”- Daniel Ricciardo confident of Renault achieving new milestone despite the odds against them.

Daniel Ricciardo is confident that his team will end up at third position by the end of the last three races remaining in the season. As of now, four teams are contesting for that spot- Racing Point, McLaren and Ferrari.

Ricciardo has emphasized that with the three races remaining, his team still has a chance to out beat racing Point, who are currently 18 points ahead of the French constructors.

“For sure now we’re the underdog, but it’s still doable, and there’s still three races,” he said. “If there was only one race left, or even two, I’d certainly be a bit more pessimistic. But we can still do it.

“It’s obviously a shame that there was a big swing [in Turkey]. It does sting, we can’t deny that. But with three races to go, I think we still have a chance to pull it off.

“And although the races will probably be dry, they’ll still be a bit going on. We know Bahrain, it’s a tight turn one. So maybe Sergio [Perez] and [Lance] Stroll want to get into each other! We’ll see.”

Intense midtable battle

With the battle between the top 2 teams is over, now Ferrari, Racing Point, Renault and McLaren are vying for the 3rd position while sharing one of the most intense battles in the history of Formula 1.

Though Racing Point are probably the favourites to secure the third position, as their veteran driver Sergio Perez has gained points in every race he has started this season, only done by Lewis Hamilton this year.

Meanwhile, Renault has been inconsistent in their results, while there have been moments of exceptional performances, there have also been grave blunders. But a driver like Ricciardo can certainly pull off objectives like these, so the final contest is going to be exciting.
