Germany won the game with the final free-kick of the match.

We are still in awe of Germany’s winner in yesterday’s match. Toni Kroos won the game with the final touch of the game, when he scored the free-kick from just outside the box. The position of the free-kick, however, made a huge difference to a fan, who laid down a fiver on Kroos to score a free-kick, but from outside the box.

A five pound bet that could’ve earned £5,250 didn’t come off in the end. It obviously didn’t happen, as Kroos scored the free-kick from marginally inside the box to win the game for Germany.

Many people sympathised with him, and also applauded him for being so close to winning the bet.

Germany’s win makes things complicated in their group, as Mexico are on top with six points. Sweden and Germany are on three-a-piece, while South Korea are already out of the World Cup.

Mexico meeting Sweden in the final group game could also pose as a potential knock-out if Germany beats South Korea, due to the possibility of goal-difference being counted into the final equation.
