Former Newcastle United striker urges the fans to protest against owner Mike Ashley

Former Newcastle United striker Michael Chopra urges the club to protest against the owner Mike Ashley.

Newcastle academy product Michael Chopra sends strong words to fans urging them to protest against the owner Mike Ashley.

The Toon army has turned against the board members after the incapability to keep Rafa Benitez at the club. The appointment of the ex-Sunderland manager Steve Bruce, who has a bad track record in the Premier League, has infuriated the fan base.

The British billionaire bought the club in 2007, but the lamentable ownership has always been brought into consideration. He was the guilty party of letting Kevin Keegan leave the club, and most recently the adored Rafa Benitez. The Spaniard has now signed for the Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang. Fans are not able to come over this dreadful move.

Michael Chopra, who broke through the academy ranks before spending six years at St. James Park, has strongly condemned the owners – thereby wanting a solution for the fans, who have not been able to change the fate of the club, despite prolonged protest.

He chose to take this matter into his hands and tweeted the same.

“Mike ashleys own words in 2008. .”Newcastle’s best asset has been, is and always will be the fans.” His plan was to exploit you from the start. He bought the club for your loyalty. Enough is enough. Make a stand. #onegoalashleyout #BoycottArsenal”

In the first weekend of the new Premier League season, Newcastle United will take on Arsenal at St. James Park. The fans are planning to boycott that game which will directly reduce the revenue of the club.

The Toon army are seeking a permanent solution for their club.
