Harry Maguire: Man Utd and Man City willing to pay colossal fee for Leicester City defender

Manchester United and Manchester City are willing to pay a colossal fee for Leicester’s Harry Maguire.

Manchester United and Manchester City are willing to pay £65 million for Leicester City centre-half Harry Maguire. The English International has gathered interest from various top clubs after top-notch performances in the World Cup last summer.

The Red Devils desperately want a defender to bolster their backline, whilst Pep Guardiola wants a quality English player due to the Premier League’s ‘homegrown’ rule. The exit of Vincent Kompany has forced the Spaniard to step up his pursuit for the defender, who does not possess peanuts price tag.

According to Sky Sports, Manchester clubs are willing to transfer £65 million to Leicester City for Harry Maguire. Although these two clubs are ready to spend that huge amount on him, the Foxes are demanding a fee closer to £100 million, which would break the World Record fee of Liverpool, who spent £75 million on Virgil Van Dijk.

The English International will not force a move away from King Power Stadium, but would happily allow the suitors to negotiate over a possible transfer. He spoke about his desire to move to Old Trafford last summer, nevertheless the deal never materialized.

Maguire joined from Hull City for £17 million in 2017. He has gone on to become one of the finest centre-backs in the Premier League currently. Foxes do not want to lose him, but they are keeping an eye on Burnley’s James Tarkowski in case the 26-year-old moves to another club.

Over the last two seasons, Maguire has made 76 appearances for the Foxes in all competitions. The Foxes are not in a pressure to sell him until either of these sides cough a bid of £100 million.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Harry Maguire’s next club remains to be seen with both Manchester United and Manchester City weighing up an offer. However, that will not be deemed enough by the Foxes, who are demanding a world record fee.
