Harry Maguire was made to look like a fool during the match vs Partizan Belgrade

Harry Maguire was made to look like a fool during the match vs Partizan Belgrade in their Europa League encounter last night.

Harry Maguire had quite the night last night. The world’s most expensive defender led his side to their first away win since that historic night in Paris. However, beyond that, everything else went wrong for the England international.

First, he made himself look incompetent in front of the world when he forgot to turn up for the toss. The man wearing the armband that was once worn by the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane and Wayne Rooney immediately made himself a laughing stock before the match had even begun.

After that, he was made to look like an even bigger mess up when he was played like a fool while defending in the match against Partizan Belgrade.

In the second half of the match, Partizan Belgrade fired on all cylinders as they chased the equaliser. Partizan’s Seydouba Soumah carried the ball into the opponent’s half. Harry Maguire tried to end the attack but was dropped to the ground by some brilliant footbwork by Soumah.

With all respect to the club, Partizan Belgrade are not Liverpool or Barcelona. With the amount United have dished out on the defender, he has no business being played around like that. Fortunately for Maguire though, Romero saved the shot and United kept their lead all through the match.

This is not a good look on Maguire. Especially, after he was compared to Sunday League players by former Tottenham Hotspur player Rafael van der Vaart during Man United’s draw against Liverpool.

“He can do something, but if he is worth so much money, Virgil van Dijk is worth £300million,” Van der Vaart told Ziggo Sport, per the Mirror.

“If I am going to play with the amateurs on Sunday afternoon, I can easily find three who can do this. I mean that seriously.

“A bit silly to say, but I really think so.”
