Jorginho provides his first Chelsea assist against Barcelona 2-1 win in pre-season game

The midfielder has become an instrumental part of Tuchel’s gameplan

Ever since he was brought on board at Chelsea by Sarri, Jorginho has remained an enigma at the club. While he’s been a solid performer for the side under all the three managers he’s stepped out for the player has always been talked about leaving the side.

Frozen out by Frank Lampard in his second spell at Chelsea, it looked like Jorginho could finally exit the Premier League club. With Sarri speculated to take over as Napoli’s manager and Jorginho’s agent Joao Santos persistently talking about a switch away from Chelsea, Jorginho looked to be counting his last days at the side.

However, the arrival of Thomas Tuchel has worked like a charm for Jorginho. Not only has been once again been brought into the club’s plans but has become an integral part of Tuchel’s gameplan.

Its down to Jorginho’s expertise with the ball. The Italian midfielder’s ball handling abilities have seen him run the play in midfield for Tuchel and ensure the ball is kept ticking around quickly.

Jorginho To Stay At Chelsea

His reinterrogation into Chelsea’s setup has quelled talk of Jorginho moving onto newer pastures. And his agent, Santos has finally shut down those rumours for once with him asserting that Jorginho was certainly staying at Chelsea next season as well.

In an interview with Tuttomercato, Joao Santos said: “He has a two-year contract with Chelsea. He is thinking about playing in the European Championship and then the World Cup in Qatar.

“He will remain at Chelsea, one hundred per cent.”

Santos added when speaking about a new deal for Jorginho at Chelsea: “We will talk about it in a few months.’”

Chelsea will be returning to action in the Premier League this week when the side takes on West Brom on Saturday. The club will be aspiring to keep its unbeaten run under Tuchel going with the side yet to lose in the 13 fixtures Tuchel has been at the helm for.
