Virat Kohli retains No. 1 spot

Virat Kohli retains No. 1 spot: The Indian captain has maintained his top spot in the updated ICC ODI Rankings.

A day after updating the MRF ICC T20I Rankings, ICC (International Cricket Council) have released the latest version of the ICC ODI rankings as well. Indian captain Virat Kohli has continued to top the batsmen’s rankings with his deputy in Rohit Sharma right below him.

Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has retained his position at No. 20.

On the back of a couple of half-centuries in the recently concluded series against Pakistan, veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor has reached a career-best No. 3 spot in the batsmen’ rankings. His leap saw him surpassing Joe Root and Babar Azam in the process.

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis, who scored his 10th ODI century against Australia at Hobart recently, has jumped three spots to No. 7. David Miller, who shared a 252-run partnership with du Plessis in the same innings and was adjourned as the ‘Man of the Series’, jumped 11 position to No. 31.

South Africa wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock, who scored 60 runs in three matches at an average of 20 and a strike rate of 101.69, has dropped at No. 9. Just above him is New Zealand captain Kane Williamson at No. 8.

Talking about the Australian batsmen, Marcus Stoinis has jumped three positions to No. 49 whereas another ODI century has promoted Shaun Marsh from No. 80 to No. 62.

Among the bowlers, Kagiso Rabada has jumped to No. 4. While Lungi Ngidi has jumped 19 spots to No. 43, his teammate in Imran Tahir has moved out of the Top 10 to No. 11.

From the ODI series in UAE, Shadab Khan has moved up by 16 spots to No. 24 while Lockie Ferguson, who picked up his maiden five-wicket haul and career-best figures at Dubai, has moved up by 32 positions to No. 42.

India spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has continued to dominate the bowlers’ ranking at No. 1. In a surprising series of events, Kuldeep Yadav is India’s top-ranked all-rounder (No. 14), ahead of the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya and Kedar Jadhav.
