The India A cricket team is set to begin a vital series starting today as the side travel to West Indies for a month long period of cricket. The side’s visit which includes a five match ODI series along with two four day test matches at the Coolidge Cricket Ground will commence today starting with the first ODI.
While the main Indian cricket found themselves unfortunate to crash out of the ongoing Cricket World Cup, for the India A side the series comes as a massive opportunity to seal important berths in the international setup. With the main side set to visit West Indies for a full fledged series across all three formats, this series brings for several players a golden chance to catch the eyes of the selectors and help earmark a berth in the side.
And ahead of the series, the BCCI called up a slew of names owing to international commitments and injury. With Rishabh Pant and Mayank Aggarwal currently at the CWC, wicket-keeper Anmolpreet Singh and Ishan Kishan were called up to replace the two while the injured Prithvi Shaw was replaced by batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named three replacements in the India A one-day squad that is set to tour West Indies this month. Ruturaj Gaikwad will replace an injured Prithvi Shaw in the squad while Anmolpreet Singh & Ishan Kishan will replace Mayank Agarwal & Rishabh Pant who are a part of the senior men’s squad for the World Cup. “the BCCI said.
The series is a part of a hectic and congested period for the India A side who are following up this series off the wake of a successful one against Sri Lanka A. The Indian side had thoroughly dominated Sri Lanka across the test and ODI series, winning both with relative ease after putting in emphatic displays to trounce their opponents.
Probable Winner for IN-A vs WI-A Dream11
The last time the two teams had met last year, it was India who had come away from the series with a win to their name with players like Rishabh Pant, Mayank Aggarwal and Deepak Chahar emerging as the main outstanding performers from the series. Seen as the immediate next step to cementing a berth in the international side, playing for India A is a massive chance for players to take the next step in their careers.
And with several changes set to be rung in the international side following their semi-final exit at the World Cup, the importance of this India A series has grown by leaps. It’s exactly this proposition which is set to see the side elevate the level of their performances, something West Indies are going to find tough to cope with. India should win the first match with ease today.
Wicket-Keeper for IN-A vs WI-A Dream11
We’ve opted for Ishan Kishan in this facet with the Mumbai Indians’ player having been among the runs against Sri Lanka A. Originally not a part of the series, this match is a good chance for him to get a good score and we see him doing so.
The clean hitting Devon Thomas is our pick from West Indies with the lower middle-order bat’s fearless brand of cricket bound to see him get a good haul of runs which paired with his penchant for the boundaries bound to add a good amount of points to our side.
Batsmen for IN-A vs WI-A Dream11
The most anticipated facet of our side given the massive repertoire of worldclass players to choose from especially India, we have ended up heavily bolstering this segment. Coming in from India is Mayank Aggarwal, someone who scored 112 the last time these two teams had met as India chased down their 223 run target with 7 wickets to spare.
He had put on a 148 run stand with Shubman Gill on the day who scored 58 in that partnership and he comes in as well for us. We have also opted for Shreyas Iyer over here with us opting for John Campbell as the lone pick from the home side.
All-Rounders for IN-A vs WI-A Dream11
We’ve gone for the one player each from either side in this segment with Axar Patel coming in from India. West Indies have traditionally hated playing against spin, something which should see Axar get some wickets today while from the hosts, its Rakheem Cornwall who finds a place in our side given the way he encapsulates his skills with both the bat and ball.
Bowling Order for IN-A vs WI-A Dream11
Deepak Chahar massively troubled West Indies in that 7 wicket win, picking up 5-27 as West Indies lost their way and ending up tumbling in the middle-order despite being accorded with a strong start. He’s accompanied by Rahul Chahar for this one with West Indies bound to lose a slew of wickets while from West Indies we have Khary Pierre coming in.
Captain And Vice-Captain
Shubman Gill is our captain for this match while Manish Pandey has been chosen as the vice-captain pick.
