IND vs NED Dream11 : India on debut in the FIH Hockey Pro League take on Netherlands at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium, Bhubaneshwar.
Last time India faced the Dutch team in the Kalinga Stadium was at the Quarter-Finals of the World Cup in 2018. Unfortunately India was knocked out at that stage. Since the last World Cup India has been a more consistent side, and Coach Graham Reid has a lot to do with it.
Under Reid India’s approach has been assertive and the 2019 Europe tour was an example; where India defeated the World Champion Belgium side in Belgium. With the inclusion of young, fast and powerful players; India has adopted attacking style of play which is capable of putting any higher ranked side under pressure.
The visitors on the other hand have a formidable line up, evolving around Billy Bakker. Baker is familiar with the conditions in Kalinga due to his association with the Kalinga Lancers in the Hockey India League. The Dutch side have combined man marking and physical prowess to strengthen the overall structure and are a dangerous side while counter attacking. With all the experiments being completed in the 2019 season, Max Caldas & Co. have a settled team this year and are treating this tournament as a stepping-stone for the Tokyo Olympics in July 2020.
Max Caldas admits that India is an extremely challenging opposition in home conditions and his side will be tested in these two games; whereas Graham Reid believes that it is important to start sharp in the Pro League where India will be facing the top three teams in the World.
