The outbreak of the novel COVID-19 pandemic has brought the world to a standstill including the sports industry. For a business which relies heavily on live events, the same was bound to happen in times of social distancing.
The 13th season of the Indian Premier League, which was originally scheduled to begin last month, has been delayed till April 15 and is one of the many cricket tournaments which have been affected by this pandemic.
The dearth of live games has forced the broadcasters to telecast some memorable matches from the past. Star Sports Network, who had previously telecast matches from India’s triumphant campaign in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, will not telecast matches from the ICC World Twenty20 2007 to keep the fans engaged.
