IPL 2017 Fantasy Guide: Fantasy Tips for Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Kings XI Punjab

Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad have had a decent enough start to this year’s IPL campaign but are on the their way down. And while this initial slump could be just a minor blip in an otherwise stellar campaign, both teams would want to get back to winning ways in Hyderabad tonight.

Maxwell has been leading from the front for Kings XI, and there was a lot of praise heaped on Sehwag for using him in the best possible way. But it all came crashing down when Maxwell was sent in at number 6 while chasing a steep target of 189. All the talk about being fearless and being direct went out of the window with Kings XI opting for this bizarre batting order. Maxwell needs to bat in the top 4 for Kings XI to have any chance of making it deep into the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have a notorious selection dilemma to deal with. Mustafizur is back but there is no way in which he can be drafted into the XI, despite being their talisman in the last campaign. Rashid Khan looks like taking a wicket everytime he rolls his arm, Moises Henriques is striking the ball supremely at the top of the order, Ben Cutting provides the team great balance with his bowling and late order striking and well you can’t replace David Warner, can you? A sweet place to be in, but it could a little bitter if they call on the wrong cards.

Let’s get to business now!

Note: As Shahbaz Nadeem wasn’t picked for the DD vs KKR encounter, I transferred out Jasprit Bumrah to get in Deepak Hooda(uncapped player from this next game)

Now, I already have David Warner, Deepak Hooda and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in my side for this game.

The first player that I get into my side for this game is Rashid Khan. He has been a revelation with the ball in this tournament, bowling tantalising googlies that are hard to pick and really difficult to score against. His quick arm action and the seam position with which he bowls makes it really tough for the batsmen to read him off the hand and off the pitch. Get him in, he could run through the explosive KXIP middle order(none of them have ever face him)

Now, what do we do about the Glenn Maxwell conundrum?

I would leave him out for this game purely because of the Rashid Khan threat, as David Warner would definitely save him to get Maxi out. Thus, I would leave out Maxwell for this one.

For the uncapped player I get in one from Bipul Sharma or KC Cariappa(depending on who bowls first). Bipul would be used in the first six to counter the right handed openers of KXIP and KC Cariappa’s mystery could cause trouble to the middle order of the Sunrisers side. You can’t really say who would come out on top amongst these two spinners(though it looks like Cariappa has got more variations up his sleeve).

Captain: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar(if SRH bowl first)/David Warner(if SRH bat second)

Now, I already have Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma in my side for this game.

The first player that I get in for this game is David Warner. His explosive batting style and supreme record against the Kings XI side is enough to warrant him a place in my side. He has scored 4 consecutive half centuries against Kings XI

Now, I can’t bring in another overseas player, as all of them have a game either tomorrow or day after and hence I will have to keep Rashid Khan out.

Getting in Warner instead of Woakes means that I will have to get in another bowler into the side in order to maintain the squad balance. Hence, I get in Deepak Hooda into my side, as removing Rahane forces me to get in an allrounder in order to incorporate the Squad constraint.

Batting Captain: David Warner

Bowling Captain: Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
