Harbhajan warns Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah

Harbhajan warns Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah: The veteran off-spinner wants Indian cricketers to be careful of injuries during IPL 2019.

After former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni, India captain Virat Kohli and India Coach Ravi Shastri, veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has become the latest batsman to share opinion regarding Indian cricketers’ fitness during IPL 2019.

With the 12th season of the Indian Premier League and the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 slated to be played in the same month, players will doubtlessly have to be careful about not succumbing to injuries due to a packed schedule.

While Dhoni had previously mentioned that “bowling four overs won’t make bowlers tired“, Shastri had expressed concerns regarding the same. On the other hand, the skipper had warned the Indian players of picking “bad habits” during the cash-rich league.

In a recent interview with Sportstar, Harbhajan Singh was confident about the Indian team’s chances to lift the World Cup in July. “World Cup is still very far. We will have to wait and watch what happens.

“But this is a kind of a team which can lift any major championship. World Cup or any big tournament, they can definitely win. They have the team [for it]”, Harbhajan was quoted as saying by PTI.

“You don’t want your key players to miss World Cup”

However, the 38-year old cricketer also warned vital Indian cricketers in Kohli, vice-captain Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah regarding them remaining fit for the showpiece event.

“But they have to be careful. IPL is a tournament in between where they will be playing a lot of cricket, one game after the other. That’s where fitness will come into play.

“You don’t want your key players to get injured someone like Virat Kohli, Rohit SharmaJasprit Bumrah you dont want them to miss the World Cup because of injuries or niggles. You want them to be on their best of form and [play] best of cricket,” Harbhajan added.

Harbhajan, who last played for India during the Asia Cup in 2016, mentioned that the current series against Australia will help India to get the confidence before the World Cup.

“Obviously, this current series [against Australia] will help them [India] to get that confidence [before the World Cup]. If they become the number one side in the world, going forward in the World Cup, you go there as a number one which will boost their confidence,” Harbhajan concluded.
