IRE vs WI Match Prediction: The Sportsrush presents before you the Match Prediction of ODI between Ireland and West Indies at Dublin.
Without a win in the tri-series, Ireland find themselves as the only side yet to begin their sojourn in the points tally. Being mauled by West Indies in the series opener, they saw their second match being wiped out due to incessant rains.
Elsewhere, from the dramatic land of the tournament, West Indies have their own aberrations to face as well. They were defeated by 8 wickets against Bangladesh with their mediocre bowling effort being taken apart and torn out completely. It was a contentious performers from their pacers, an underwhelming effort which saw them fail to even defend a health total of 261.
With these predicaments staring both sides in the face, the match is set to be one that sees the level of performances be elevated. There’s absolutely no margin for error and either side will be looking to put forward their most rampant foot forward to put down the other with relative ease.
IRE vs WI – What numbers suggest?
In the eight ODIs which Ireland and West Indies have played against each other, Ireland have won only one ODI as compared to West Indies’ six wins. Both teams have played only a couple of matches in Ireland. Out of which, one didn’t yield a result and the other one was won by the visitors.
IRE vs WI – Key battles
Barry McCarthy vs Shai hope
He had followed up his 170 against Ireland with a century against Bangladesh as well, emerging as the only batsman interested in putting on an innings in an otherwise dwindling batting performance by his side. He’s been in good form of late, finding it easy to score the runs and what he does is give the West Indies a solid platform to take off from in the opening slot.
The last time these two sides met, in what was a redundant showing by Ireland, Barry emerged their most successful bowler with two wickets as well as giving away the least runs. This will be a surface that no matter how beautiful for batting, will offer the requisite assistance to the pacers. The ball will rip around, deviating nastily into the batsmen with pace and bounce and if Barry can trouble.
Kevin O’Brien vs Shannon Gabriel
Trounced as they were demised for just 185 by West Indies, Kevin O’Brien had refused to go though without a fight with his 68 run innings. One thing is for sure, this is going to be a match of colossal scoring propositions and Ireland need to put on a stable batting front and show resilience in the face of what should be a mammoth batting effort by the opposition.
In Kevin, they do have one such player who can deliver a performance of note and help his side make a meal of the match. However facing up among Shannon Gabriel won’t be the easiest of jobs for him, with the bowler among the wickets in both the matches he’s represented his side in this series.
He’s known for his shape on the ball, getting it to move around and frisk and with him being the first change bowler, he’ll defiantly be bowling a majority of his overs at Kevin.

#ICYMI: Ireland v West Indies: Hosts unchanged for Tri-Series finish
— Cricket Ireland (@Irelandcricket) May 10, 2019
No matter what chance we try to give Ireland, their percentage of a win from this is extremely low if not negligible. West Indies will be hurting after being defeated by Bangladesh and expect them to put on a resolute and solid performance against Ireland filled with valour and resolve.
The West Indies are just too strong in the batting department with a line-up that goes down as low as number 7. And pairing it up perfectly is the pace battery, two aspects with Ireland will have no possibility of negotiating. This should be a one-sided encounter which West Indies come out on top of easily.
