Isco on his future

Isco on his future: The midfielder has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have had an eventful season so far. After Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo left the side at the beginning of the season, the club appointed Julen Lopetegui as the new manager.

However, the Spanish head coach failed to deliver and the club parted ways with him after a crushing 5-1 defeat to Barcelona. His tenure also oversaw Real Madrid’s worst goalless run in club’s history.

Under Santiago Solari, the Spanish giants returned to track in the season, and ended the year with the Club World Cup trophy. Real Madrid also climbed to fourth place in the La Liga table.

The situation of Isco, however, has been a concern for the Real Madrid board. Isco has reportedly fell out-of-favour with the Real Madrid boss, and there have been speculations over his departure from the club.

Isco on his future:

The 26-year old midfielder has started only one game and made a substitute appearance in five matches under Santiago Solari. Despite the lack of game time under the new manager, Isco stated that he wants to stay at the club.

“I’m very excited about the new year,” Isco told Deportes Cuatro.

He confirmed that he has no intentions of leaving Real Madrid in the January transfer window, and wants to ‘continue winning titles’ with the Spanish club.

“I’m not going to go in the winter market.

“I’m very happy, of course I want to continue with Madrid to continue winning titles.”

Earlier, Independent reported that Arsenal were preparing a stunning swap deal including Mesut Ozil and Isco.

The report from Independent states that Real Madrid are planning a squad overhaul, and are likely to offload Isco due to his fitness issues.

What next?

Real Madrid return to action in La Liga on January 3 as they take on Villareal.
