Jurgen Klopp Hands Positive Update On Sadio Mane While Jota Continues To Remain Ruled Out For A Month

Sadi Mane Injury Update : Mane could be back for the club when they take on Manchester City

Doling out what was arguably their most mundane and dreary attacking performance against Brighton, Liverpool befittingly ended up bereft of a goal in the affair. Not only did the lacklustre display leave the side without goals in two matches on the spin at Anfield but also devoid of a win in those matches at home.

The team’s languid attacking form once again highlighted Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane’s absence from the club’s squad. Both the club’s are currently on the injury bed for the club with their time away from the club’s playing 11 having a telling impact at the club’s attacking gameplan.

Klopp Provides Fresh Update On The Duo

Quizzed on the duo’s injury status after his side’s 1-0 defeat against Brighton on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp had mixed news to offer. While he said Sadio Mane could be involved at the weekend when his side take on Manchester City, the Liverpool boss was quick to rule out Jota for almost the next month.

“Didn’t I say that before the game? It didn’t change too much during the game!” Klopp said when asked about Jota and Mane.

“Diogo is, I don’t know exactly, a couple of weeks, two, three, four, I am not sure.

“And Sadio we will see. He might be available for the weekend. He didn’t train with the team today. Maybe, we will see.”

Klopp added: “They were fresher than us tonight, they did more good things than we did and we lost too many easy balls.

“The best way to defend Brighton is to play your own football. We didn’t create a lot.

“For me the team looked tonight, and it’s so long since we did, but tonight we looked fatigued, mentally fatigued.

“And that leads to not the best legs, as well. That is how it is.

“It was a tough week and today we were not fresh enough and good enough to break Brighton down.

“For me, tonight was a tough game, we’ve had a few tough games and I don’t say we are mentally fatigued like depressed or whatever, just that tonight we were not fresh enough. That is for sure.
