Lionel Messi has made it clear to Barcelona that he wants one from Neymar and Griezmann at Barcelona.
Barcelona have fallen short in the Champions League in the past few years and need a suitable world class forward to be competing and challenging for European glory next season.
With Neymar leaving the club, Barcelona have put in place a system that worked wonders for them in the league but when it comes to Europe, critics wonder if that system is good enough.
Coutinho’s inclusion in the Barcelona squad does provide a lot of impetus to their forward line up but with Iniesta’s departure, we’ll have to wait and see if Coutinho is played in that midfield role.
If Barcelona do opt for such a system, they will need a world class forward to partner Suarez and Messi.
Well, Messi has identified his choice(s) and has clearly stated that he wants one from Neymar and Griezmann to take up the third forward’s role.
“I would love it if Neymar was to return, but it looks difficult.
“The truth is I wouldn’t like it if he went to Madrid.
“He is an exceptional player and if he was to come back to us it would be fantastic but it looks difficult.” Messi said as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Messi is a Griezmann fan too, who he believes could fit well into the Barcelona system and make them ‘great’ again.
“With good players they’re easy to understand and Griezmann is one of the players that’s going through a great moment in his exceptional career,” he said.
“If he came, then the coach will already know how everything fits.
“We want to be the best team in the world and that is why we want to have the best players.” he added.
Messi is already looking forward to the next season and has emphasised on the fact that they will go all out for all trophies that are out there.
“The Champions League is exciting for everyone, but we must always fight for all the titles. When the season begins we want to win everything, including the League and Cup, they’re also important for us.” Messi said.
Messi is currently preparing for the FIFA World Cup with Argentina.
