Kapil Dev picks his Greatest Indian cricketer

Kapil Dev picks his Greatest Indian cricketer: The legendary Indian all-rounder selected his Greatest Indian cricketer recently.

The best Indian all-rounder and arguably the best around the world, former India captain Kapil Dev recently selected his Greatest Indian cricketer during sharing his views on a news website.

It is worth mentioning that back in 1983, Dev became the first Indian captain to win the Cricket World Cup for India. He carried on the mantle for 28 years until former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni won it in 2011.

“MS Dhoni is the greatest player India has ever produced. He played 90 Tests and then said let’s give a chance to the youngsters. Dhoni did that and hats off to him for putting his country before himself,” Dev was quoted as saying to India Today.

Dhoni’s decision to retire midway during India’s tour of Australia in 2014 had received mixed reactions for a lot of critics believed that he should have taken responsibility by at least playing the full series than just retiring in the middle of it.

The 37-year old cricketer is the only captain to win all the three ICC trophies in the ICC World Twenty20 2007, ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2013.

Talking about his current form, Dhoni is undergoing an extended lean patch this year. In terms of number of runs scored in ODIs, the year 2018 has seen him scoring the least amount of runs.

However, he still remains a key figure in India’s World Cup squad for next year’s showpiece event. Currently on an extended break, Dhoni will be seen playing for India in the upcoming ODI series against Australia, which will be followed by an ODI series in New Zealand and then back home against Australia.
