Kevin De Bruyne Injury: Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne will miss the upcoming home clash against Wolves on Sunday.
Pep Guardiola confirmed that midfielder Kevin De Bruyne suffered a minor injury during final moments of the game against Everton and will miss the upcoming game against Wolves.
The Belgian hasn’t trained since last weekend and missed the midweek Champions League game against Dinamo Zagreb, which resulted in a 2-0 victory, thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden.
The 28-year-old has scored twice and picked out his teammates on eight occasions in the Premier League this season. He’s currently the highest-scoring player in the Fantasy Premier League and will be a huge blow for his owners. More than 40% of players own the Belgian, who has scored 63 points from seven game weeks.
He is the only undroppable midfielder in the current Manchester City lineup and will be a huge miss for the Citizens and the FPL owners too. He costs £10 currently and you could pick plenty of alternates for him this weekend.
However, we shall look at three replacements for Kevin De Bruyne for Premier League game week 8.
#1 Heung Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur)
Total FPL Points: 33
Bonus Points: 3
Heung Min Son has been at the right side of the fantasy points over the last four weeks. The Korean has two goals and three assists in this period and has looked most menacing forward in the Spurs lineup this season.
After a midweek humiliation in the hands of Bayern Munich, Mauricio Pochettino will be raring to go head-to-head against Southampton in the weekend. Since the Saints are not in good form off late, Son could be benefitted through the right side of his opponent’s defence. It will be interesting to see how Southampton approach the game.
#2 David Silva (Manchester City)
Price: £ 7.6
Total FPL Points: 37
Bonus Points: 3
David Silva will be the senior-most midfielder for Manchester City. In the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Pep Guardiola will deploy David Silva to supply the forward line. It has looked like a slow start for the former Valencia midfielder, but he has accumulated 37 points this season.
He famously started during the Watford 8-0 rout and did harm to his opposition with a goal and assist. The Citizens have been inconsistent in their displays and complacency has bitten them off in recent weeks. David Silva’s presence will have an effect and he has the eye for goal and pass to terrorize Wolves, who have made a poor start to the season.
#3 John McGinn (Aston Villa)
Price: £ 5.8
Total FPL Points: 38
Bonus Points: 4
John McGinn has been one of the pickouts from this season. The youngster costs a minuscule amount and he could have an effect when Aston Villa play Norwich City this weekend.
Since the Canaries play an open game, it hands over a chance for Aston Villa to attack and take the game to opposition’s half. John McGinn has the capability to play through both the wings and will have his say in front of the goal. He also has the huge Wesley to feed and could register assists as well.
