Kevin Prince Boateng to Barcelona

Barcelona are close to wrapping up a deal for Kevin Prince Boateng.

Barcelona have been linked with plenty of players this window as they try and reinforce themselves to land the Champions League this campaign. The sale of Paco Alcacer and Munir El Haddadi has forced Ernesto Valverde to make a move in this window.

They have a shortlist of six strikers involving Olivier Giroud, Alvaro Morata, Christian Stuani, Lucas Perez, Cedric Bakambu, and Fernando Llorente. But, completing the transfers for these forwards are tough since their current side are not willing to negotiate with Barcelona currently.

On the other hand, Denis Suarez has been strongly linked with a potential move to the Gunners in the upcoming days. The report also says that the Catalans want the Spaniard to sign a new contract before relieving him in a temporary deal until the end of the season.

To make things complicated, the reigning Spanish Champions are moving closer to seal a deal for the midfielder Kevin Prince Boateng, as per the reports from the ever-reliable Italian publication Gianluca Di Marzio. The Ghanian International is currently plying his trade with the Italian side Sassuolo.

It is also understood that the former AC Milan Skipper will sign for Barcelona in the forthcoming days in a loan deal with an option to buy. Even though the fees have not been mentioned, the fans can sense a player getting offloaded from Nou Camp this month.

Turning 32 in two months time, Boateng is a versatile midfielder who has the capability to operate as an attacking midfielder, both the flanks and as a striker. Besides, he is known for his set-piece attributes as well.

It might be a shocking transfer if the deal goes through, but at the other viewpoint, Valverde will be able to cover multiple positions by acquiring the Ghanian’s signature who looks certain to join the Spanish heavyweights.

Kevin Price Boateng’s agent Edoardo Crnjar was the main man for this deal to happen in the middle of the season. With time running out in the winter transfer market, looks like Barcelona will welcome the midfielder to Nou Camp in the upcoming days.

It will be interesting to see where he would fit in because there are totally two possibilities. He could act as a backup to Barcelona’s Number 9 Luis Suarez or could cover the place which will be left by Denis Suarez.
