FIH Women’s Final Series Best Dream 11 Team for KOR-W vs UKR-W Dream11

With the advent of the first ever edition of the FIH Women’s Series Finals set to get underway today, the newest edition into the women’s hockey  fraternity is a testament to how far the game has come. The game for women is now as expansive as ever and the first leg of the 8 team FIH Series Final is all set to regale us in a meticulous brand of sensational hockey.

The tournament holds all the more importance given that the top two teams from the event will seal their berth in the Japan Olympic Qualifiers to be held later this year with the other two legs later this month adding to the total of six teams to be selected from the Series Final. The opening leg is being held at the Banbridge Hockey Club in Ireland, the silver medallists at the 2018 World Cup in London.

The tournament which was earlier slated to be held at the University College Dublin and the National Sports Campus was shifted owing to the new pitches not being prepared in time. For Ireland who step into the tournament as the highest ranked side with a world ranking of 8, this showpiece tournament is a massive opportunity accorded to them. The event is the perfect opportunity for the side to show how far they’ve come over the course of the last year.

Beginning proceedings will be Korea and Ukraine as they gear up to step out for the tournament opener on Saturday morning. Ahead of the much anticipated and path breaking match, we take a look at the two sides and the best players to pick for your Dream 11 side.

Probable Winner

Ranked 11 in the world, Korea are coming into the tournament as the second highest placed side. Heavily touted as one of the sides to play in the final of this marquee tournament, the country will be looking to stamp their authority against Ukraine who still have plenty to prove on the biggest stages.

At the end of the four quarters, we see Korea being just way too strong for Ukraine. The Asian side should win this encounter and cruise past the two points in the end.

Goal-Keeper for KOR-W vs UKR-W Dream11

The first pick is going to be from Korea with their shot stopper Soo coming into our side. We are expecting Korea to keep things pretty tight at the back and Soo will be heavily involved in ensuring the same.

Defenders for KOR-W vs UKR-W Dream11

Continuing in the same fashion, we are going to stack up a majority of Korean defenders as well in our side. In will come Yurim Lee, Hee Sun Jang and Hyoju An, three players who have been extremely important in hammering down a leakage proof defence unit.

Ukraine will be represented as well here with us picking the two defenders from their side as well. Katernya and Zoia are going to be our two picks from their side with this match not expected to be a too high scoring one.

Midfielders for KOR-W vs UKR-W Dream11

Given that it’s the opening encounter for both these sides, we want to see how both fare before we start packing in the midfielders. They are often prone to accounting up negative points, something we want to stay clear of for this encounter and that will see us pick just three midfielders.

From Ukraine in comes Oksana while Korea will see the two player partnership of Shin and Cho play in unison for us. They have for quite some time been a mainstay for their side and should take centrestage yet again.

Forwards for KOR-W vs UKR-W Dream11

Given the narrative we’ve built for this match to take, it’s going to be just the one striker each from both these units. Eunbi Cheon finds a place in our side from Korea while from the Ukraine setup its going to be Yana who comes in for us.

Captain And Vice-Captain

We are going to make Korean defender Jang our captain for this one while their striker Cheon is going to be our vice-captain.
