Late Khun Vichai offered a trail to the waiter Davide Lorenzo, who is currently training with the reserves.

The whole world was mourning the death of the former Leicester City Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha when his helicopter crashed near the King Power Stadium two months ago.

He was known for his generosity to help people out whenever they require any aid. Various stories including handing over 60 season tickets, free doughnut, and free beer on his 60th birthday were unknown to the public until the foxes faithful told the media.

He kept the club as a family and gifted free BMWs to all the players upon their premier league title victory. Apart from that, the charity work to the city of Leicestershire is something the whole city will be proud of.

There is yet another untold story about the late chairman, helping out a young man who was forced to become a waiter after kicking off his career as a footballer.

The Italian Davide Lorenzo was part of the youth setup from Juventus, but he could not help out himself as he was released from the club at a young age.

Later, he had spells at different clubs at Malta, Belgium, and Norway, but things just did not work out for the Italian.

He went on to trails with New York Red Bulls and New York Cosmos, but his expiry of passport dented him from going further.

Giving up on his footballing career, he chose to work at a waiter in a hotel in France where his girlfriend is put up.

Lorenzo was able to recognise Vichai and had a healthy chat with him at the hotel. When the conversation ended, the Thai International asked if he would be interested in playing at Thailand or Belgium.

Vichai arranged a trail at Leicester City to quickly assess him, and he clearly impressed the English club’s representative who was blown away by his desire and determination.

Although he is miles behind the required match fitness, he is currently plying his trade with the Under-23 squad and trains with them daily.

Claude Puel spoke about the chances of Lorenzo breaking into the first team to Leicester Mercury,

“It is an interesting story. He met Vichai in a restaurant and told him his dream to come to Leicester to show his quality. We know the chairman liked this spirit when a man has a dream and tries to give his best.”

“He offered for him to come for a trial and I gave him a contract. It is a nice story.

“Then we will see his future, but now he needs to get fit and we will see, perhaps put him out on loan or give him some game time.

“He trains with the under-23s, we will see if he can come into the first team. It is early because he hasn’t trained for one year, but it is a good feeling and a good story of course.”

The player himself spoke after signing for the club and expressed his desire to carry on his footballing career for long.

“I am happy to have achieved this goal which I have pursued for so long. I know the contract was a consequence of the changes I have made on and off the pitch.

“I have learned so much from previous mistakes, now I just want to train hard every day and see where it takes me.”

“Puel told me to keep working hard because they have seen my desire and my qualities – now I have to get back in shape.

“It’s a dream, it really is, to have trained with Adrien Silva and Nampalys Mendy. Incredible.

“One month ago I would have given my blood just to go back to Italy and play Serie C. But I never stopped believing in myself and now I have a second chance.”

It’s a remarkable fairy tale for the young man.
