Lionel Messi: Why Barcelona star was left behind by team bus after Liverpool defeat

Lionel Messi: Barcelona star left behind by the team bus after Liverpool defeat as the Reds march into the Champions league finale 2019.

Last night was a disaster for the Catalan players as they failed to uphold a 3-goal lead against Liverpool. The Kops made a remarkable comeback against Barcelona and many are considering the last night performance near to the Istanbul night in 2005.

Lionel Messi, who promised the Barcelona fans at the start of the season that the team will bring back the Champions league title to Nou Camp, failed to deliver his promise.

As the celebrations in Merseyside started after Origi’s winning goal in the 79th minute, Liverpool shattered Barcelona’s dream of winning the third treble.

According to Mirror, it got even worse for the Barcelona captain, as Barcelona team bus reportedly left behind Messi at the Anfield as he was held behind by anti-doping testers.

Thus, it is reported that the Barcelona bus left while Messi was still at the Anfield waiting to provide testers with a sample.

It seems that the Blaugranas were in no mood to remain at the Anfield after facing such humiliating defeat, as they did not even stay for their club captain.

Although, Mirror cleared that the Argentine international made his own travel arrangement to catch-up with his teammates for the flight back to Spain.

Meanwhile, the 31-year-old forward refused to speak with the media while he was leaving the stadium.

The catastrophic night probably shattered Messi as his downhearted face was the proof of disappointment. Despite being one of the dominant sides of Europe and having one of the greatest players to ever grace the game, Barcelona have failed to win the Champions league since 2015.
