Liverpool Transfer News: Jurgen Klopp dealt with huge blow as Reds target on the verge of signing for La Liga club

Nabil Fekir is on the verge of signing for Real Betis.

Lyon Skipper Nabil Fekir is on the verge of signing for Real Betis. The French International was on Reds’ radar and a deal was on the ending stages, before medical team suggested about the player’s problematic knee.

This forced the club to walk out of the deal last summer, but showed much interest in the midfielder this summer too. The 26-year-old, whose contract runs down next summer, has opted Real Betis instead of late interest from Napoli.

According to the reliable Mohamed Bouhafsi, who works for the RMC Sport, Nabil Fekir has travelled to Seville to complete this deal today. €20 million plus €10 million add ons is the fee for the attacking midfielder, who was part of the France World Cup winning squad last summer.

The medical will be done in the next few hours and Fekir will be announced as Real Betis player in the coming hours or days. The attacking midfielder, who enjoyed a great season before Liverpool’s transfer collapse, was below standard last season.

He scored just 12 and assisted 9 in 39 appearances for the French club. The French club entertained offers from elsewhere and Real Betis were the first side to approach him and land him in this summer.

There is also an on-going rumour about Giavani Lo Celso heading into the exit door. The Argentinian is closer to signing for the Champions League runners-up Tottenham Hotspur, but it remains to be seen as the rumours have not surfaced over the last few days.

This will come as a huge blow for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp saw him as an ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who joined Barcelona in January 2017. However, the Reds have been constantly linked with a move for Nicolas Pepe, who is yet to confirm his next club.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Fans anticipate Liverpool to make a move or two before the transfer window draws curtains. Nicolas Pepe could move to Anfield, but the Ivorian is yet to give a word to the interested clubs.
